About Me

- Name: Beth
- Location: Chicago, Illinois, United States
Well, apparently, you can have multiple blogs, but you can't have multiple profiles. So this one will have to suffice for both sites. My Finding My Voice persona says: My dream is to get paid to sing. That dream is slightly complicated by two things: 1) I'm not a big fan of singing in public, and 2) Not many people get paid to sing. I figure, I'll focus on 1, and then maybe 2 will take care of itself. In the meantime, I'm a writer and editor. Mostly, I write and edit for other people, but someday, I'll find a way to get paid to write solely what I want to write. Until then, here we are. I write what I want, and you, hopefully, read it. But even if you don't, it's still the ultimate ego-trip. My The Cookie Queen's English persona says: It's always good to have more than one dream. And one of my others is to open a bakery someday. A cookie bakery. Hence my new blog, The Cookie Queen's English, a chronicle of this year's holiday baking season ... and beyond.

I saw inception. I think I see them all. To me, it was too contrived and manipulative.
Winter's Bone, nothing even close to that for me. Great, great, great movie.
I saw "Winter's Bone," too, and really liked it. I mean, it broke my heart, but I really liked it.
But the intricacy of "Inception" left me breathless. I can't imagine what it took to write that script.
Time will tell which way the Academy votes. The pendulum seems to swing between reward the big spectacle films and the indie darlings.
I actually found "Winter's Bone" to be an uplifting story, very hopeful. It was so gritty and felt so honest. I could connect with that.
"The King's Speech."
Yup, Tom, "Winter's Bone" was definitely gritty and honest. That scene? In the swamp? Yeow.
And Angelo: D'oh! I forgot about that one! (This is why no one asks me to predict the Oscars.) I very much want Colin to win!
I was really disappointed with "Inception". It started out okay but the last half just didn't seem dreamlike...it was more just like watching five action movies simultaneously.
Loved "The King's Speech" as well, and that makes it official.t
