My Favorite Painting! ...

I'm so pleased to have found a fellow blogger - who bakes! – who recently visited the Art Institute and took pictures of some of her favorite paintings, one of which is my all-time favorite painting. The artist is Alberto Pasini, and the title is "Circassian Calvary Awaiting Their Commanding Officer at the Door of a Byzantine Monument; Memory of the Orient." Yes, really.

Sadly, it's impossible to find a print of this piece. I wonder if Pierce Brosnan would mind very much starring in a sequel to the remake of "The Thomas Crown Affair" and lifting the original for me.

For those who'd like to read about her Chicago escapades this December, Yvonne's complete post is here.

That's indeed a very interesting painting. The photograph is a bit too blurred, but is understandable when taking pictures inside a gallery without using flash or tripod. It seems a watercolor to me, would you tell me, before I go digging the web?

By the way, have you ever seen a painting called "Lovers on the bridge" or something like that? I saw it once in a exhibition in New Orleans, and was never able again to find it.

I'm 99% sure it's not a watercolor.

As for your painting, is it this:

Or something else?

No, I'm afraid it's not. Probably I mistook the name, for I have run many searches and found nothing. I remember the description of the painting saying something like "a young man leaning towards his object of love, and she leaning back in shyness". The landscape was an urban one, probably France.

Thanks anyway, my dear!
