This Will Be The Only Post Of Its Kind ...

I could give a rat's ass about Posh and Becks setting up house in Los Angeles (except to say it's completely INSANE to pay any athlete a quarter of a BILLION dollars especially when Beckham played a mere 13 minutes in his first game because of his ankle), but having seen a photo today of the "all-star" post-Galaxy party last night, will someone tell Victoria Beckham that she seriously needs to eat a pork chop?

Victoria Beckham is one of those women I really think needs to eat more. I don't know where a lot of these singers and starlets got the idea that skinny=good. Besides being unhealthy, it's also unattractive. Granted, I don't care for Rosie O'Donnell's build either, but there IS a happy medium!

As to Beckham himself, if he's going to play football here in the States, couldn't he have signed with the Kansas City Wizards (since St. Louis doesn't have a team)...

I care deeply about Posh and Becks. That is, in the algebraic sense, where "Posh" = "friends" and "Becks" = "family".

Otherwise, meh.

FYI, that quarter of a BILLION dollar salary is nearly, if not entirely, paid by Adidas, not MLS. I still think this rollout of Beckham was ham-handed, speaking of pork. FCD! FCD!

mercurie - Yeah, when you can see a woman's skeleton where her chest is supposed to be, it's time to drink a milkshake. And frankly, I'm astonished that Beckham is here, playing soccer in a country where soccer is met with a lot of ambivalence. I mean, yeah, it's a crapload of money, but like, there's only so much you need. His family didn't seem to be on food stamps before.

eth - I like your algebra. And whoever is paying his salary, Adidas or MLS, it's still asinine. The man makes $140K a DAY, each day, every day. Let's say he puts in a 12-hour day (what with practice and games and business deals and photo shoots and all), he's pulling down about $11.5K an hour. And minimum wage in this country is still below six bucks.

Beckham is here a) for the money and b) for the money and c) for the exposure he can only get in the United States for the money. It's not about sports, regardless of how many adidas commercials you see. It's THE MONEY. And they both could eat a pork chop or six.
