Huh? ...

Is it just me, or is it weird for Bush to nominate someone for the Supreme Court who's never been a judge?

Hell, if I would have known you didn't have to be a judge to become one of the most powerful people in the world, I'd have applied.

As reported on NPR this morning, Rehnquist never served as a judge either prior to his confirmation. So yes, there is a precedent.

However, notice the trend of nominees who have less of a "track record" each time? I don't want to get all "Manchurian Candidate" over here, but I get the sneaking feeling that this sort of thing is going to burn us (as Americans) big time.

As with all depressing, cynical assumptions, I hope I am wrong.

The dems actually encouraged him to look outside the current sitting judges to fill the spot. He only took their advice.

My word: gflon - Don't you have to bake that at 450 for 12 minutes or it will sink?

Hey if you were Canadian you could be the head of state (governor general) and all you have to do is work for the CBC!
